Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

We are doing great things here in Valdosta to help raise awareness. We have a wonderful group of moms wanting to help. They are busy tieing gold bows to be sold for $5 at Astro Exterminating on Saturday, September 18th from 10am-2pm. These bows are great for mailboxes or doors. Come get yours for your home or business. The proceeds are going to Curesearch (curesearch.org).

We have generated alot of excitement and awareness already. Most people didn't know:

*46 kids are diagnosed every day with cancer.
*9 kids die every day from cancer or complications from treatment.
* Only 3% of government funded cancer research goes to pediatrics.

Most people assume that research is being done and that it is being taken care of. Most don't know that there are many childhood cancers with no cure and that treatment options are often worse than the cancer itself. Most don't know how familes are affected. We certainly didn't know any of this until we had to live it.

Most don't know that today, 9 moms will have to face the fact that there is no medicine to help their sick child. Their children will not be here tomorrow. But their families will. And they will wonder and ask why more wasn't done or isn't being done to help these children.

We are trying to do our part to raise awareness and funds. Every child deserves a cure.

We will be delivering bows next week to those who cannot make it on Saturday. Please call my cell phone if you would like one: 229-300-6102.

Thank you so much for your continued support and for continuing to remember Victoria and our family.
